The beating heart of the Church

Seminarian following the Syriac liturgy from a service book

Our Mission:

Mor Ephrem Theological Seminary is the beating heart of the Church and the center of spiritual and pastoral formation in the Syriac Church. It prepares the clergy of tomorrow through a comprehensive program that integrates spiritual growth, Christian virtues, and theological and Syriac studies. Guided by an open Oriental Orthodox vision rooted in the Syriac Antiochian spiritual tradition, the seminary responds to the academic, cultural, and spiritual needs of its students. It equips them with a solid foundation in theology, philosophy, liturgy, and the Syriac language, enabling them to become educated and well-prepared servants dedicated to the service of the Church and their people.

Our Values:

Students gathered for prayer in the chapel
  • Pastoral Humility

We aim to form clergy marked by piety and integrity, able to recognize the needs of the faithful and respond to them with compassionate pastoral care.

  • Academic Excellence

We are committed to educating our students in Scripture, theology, philosophy, the Syriac language, and the liturgical tradition of the Church.

  • Syriac Spirituality

We shape our seminarians through the Syriac patristic tradition of Antioch, helping them embrace the spirit of the Holy Fathers and carry forward their living legacy.

  • Rooted in Tradition, Open to the World

We prepare clergy for the twenty-first century who are firmly rooted in the heritage of their Church and equipped to engage the challenges of the modern world and the mission of the Church in the Middle East and throughout the diaspora.
